Immigration hard-liners fret over a McCain White House

Escrito PorDaniela a las 12:09 PM |  Comentar |  Imprimir |  Enviar a Correo

This may not come as a surprise, given past coverage, but here's another article that talks about immigration hard-liners who are starting worry about the idea of a McCain White House.

The Los Angeles Daily News reports that some GOPers claim they'll stay home and not vote in the November general election if John McCain is the Republican nominee.

Here's one that got us: Ann Coulter said she'd vote for Hillary Clinton over John McCain. Hm.

I think this blog is hurt by the fact that it doesn't show up in "Google blog search". Anyway it works for me as a place that rounds up immigration headlines.

Too bad that one individual had to ruin the old MATT forum and they chose to close it down. It was much more enjoyable than this blog format.

You and I had as much to do with the demise of the old MATT forum as did the "one individual" to whom you wish to ascribe blame.

The orignal idea was -- the idea which attracted me -- was an exchange between Mexican Nationals and Americans. At first, we had that. Then, we didn't.

Part of the reason we lost the exchange is because we bashed every Mexican National into silence. Is that what you miss?

What did it profit MATT to maintain a Mexican - American forum when the Americans ganged up to drive the Mexican Nationals out of the discussion?

Gotta believe, Tweety, that what you really miss is the expanded opportunity to vent your frustration.

But, I also miss the old MATT forum.

Still, Daniel does an outstanding job. Not her fault MATT doesn't do more to promote and advertise the blog. MATT, after alll, seems to have big bucks to promote those things which they believe advances their cause.

KUDOS, truly, to Daniela.

I like the blog. And Daniela's more fair than any of the old forum moderators or administrators.

Gregorio, As usual you are the voice of reason. I wasn't around in the forum days you all speak of but I can only infer, based on the comments people make on this blog, that what you describe is indeed what happened.

P.S. I should add that we can make discussion on this blog very lively -- it just requires hitting "Publish Your Comment" more often than we do now.

The "Mexican Nationals" I remember from the early days of the forum were entirely unmissable. There were some extremely creepy, rabid Mexican Nationalists (Quetzlcoatl Jones and someone called "Nando") and a Mexican woman who shamelessly called a black poster the "N-word." (And was not banned for it.) At any rate the discussion was doomed from the start: there was no point of commonality. It was like a group of muggers trying to convince the muggees (Americans) that we should allow ourselves to continue being mugged. Fat chance of success there.

You just proved Gregorio right, Irene. I was there puppytoes -- you weren't. It happened exactly as I described it. There was no introspection, no true self-examination or acknowledgement of why Mexico with all its riches and natural resources is a Third World toilet. It was just "gimmee, gimmee, gimme, gimme gringos."
