ThinkProgress says his comments on the program amount to a call for "mass deportation" of illegal immigrants. Though the CBS website says he says it would be wrong to stop providing social services to illegal immigrants while they are still in the country. Last year I saw Dobbs speak at the Border Issues Conference in Washington, DC on a panel with Univision anchor Jorge Ramos, Members of Congress, and others. And while he maintained his strong opinions, few if any rhetorical grenades were thrown around the room. He was challenged strongly by those in attendance, including Ben Johnson of the Immigration Policy Center, but his tough demeanor on television was toned down for the public event.
