No Surrender from John McCain

In a drive reminiscent of campaign ’00, presidential candidate Senator John McCain is aggressively campaigning in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina under the new motto "No Surrender."
It’s a photo-op, Iraq war defense and political resurrection all rolled into one. It’s getting the kind of attention you’d expect including the positive and negative. ABC News writes that McCain is "embracing the troop surge and even launching a ’No Surrender’ in Iraq campaign slogan." The New York Times blogs it and links to the Daily Show which jokes about it as the "I’ll See You in Hell Expres."

McCain is one of the Senate’s champions of comprehensive immigration reform and he’s well-known and well-connected within the Hispanic community both within his home state of Arizona and nationally.

Is that how policitians should target "the hispanic vote"? They have to be pro-amnesty and pro-illegal alien? What is this country coming to? What happened to a nation based on the rule of law and politicans who above all should be following them?

The politician who wants to target the "hispanic vote" should, above all else, appear friendly so that the voters think "He is my friend". Hispanics have positions on issues. But few vote the issues. Come to think of it, that's true of most voters, regardless of ethnicity. I and another 10% of voters are ideological and vote on issues. But we are only 10% of the voters. 90% vote based on the way he combs his hair or clears his throat or shakes his finger at them.
