McCain straddles tense line on immigration

The latest in a series of stories by all kinds of outlets on the tightrope that GOP candidate John McCain has to walk when it comes to immigration, NPR published a story on McCain's appearance at La Raza's conference.

From the story—

"I never ask for any special privileges from anyone just for having done the right thing," he said. "But I do ask for your trust that when I say I remain committed to fair, practical and comprehensive immigration reform, I mean it."

Cecilia Munoz, the vice president of La Raza, appreciated the plea for trust. Still, she said McCain's emphasis on border security turned her off.

"He talked about comprehensive immigration reform, but always following [that] we have to secure the borders first. And that really suggests that there is a two-part agenda, and I think there is real concern about that in the community," she said.

The appearance was McCain's third in front of a group of Latino voters.

Yes, Cecilia, we know there is a real concern in the la raza community about border enforcement, just as there is a real concern about all other forms of enforcement, because you and your organization are very clear and obvious about what you really want: unlimited open borders, official Spanish, unlimited "access" of 110 million Mexicans to "free" welfare services, educational services (that you don't use -- 50 percent of Latinos in LA are high school drop-outs), racial preferences and "affirmative action", all at the expense of American taxpayers. La Raza's frequent hypocritical pronouncements that they support enforcement are examples of the typical two-faced dissembling that is common in the Mexican culture. "We support enforcement like patriotic Americans but we are against all enforcement measures." The fool McCain is not going to get anything from pandering to them -- why would they support someone who only gives them 95 percent of what they want, when they could get 120 percent from Bambi Obama?

The bottom line is that La Raza members have never been and never will be anything except patriotic Mexicans. The sine qua non of a patriotic American is the unqualified support of secure borders and national sovereignty. Perhaps some of the pros will now get the message and understand better why we consider La Raza to be a racist organization replete with traitors, fellow-travelers and aiders and abetters. Cecilia is a joke, a joke on us and all real patriotic Americans. Her agenda and that of La Raza is all too clear and fully justifies the most stringent actions government can bear to excise this cancer. Not that it is likely to happen with either Obama or McCain, those two liy-livered panderers
