MATT, July 15, 2010
On Thursday July 8, 2010 MATT had the honor to serve as Sponsor and Exhibitor at the 3rd Annual TechBA (Technology Business Accelerator) Expo held in Austin, Texas in support of innovative Mexican technology companies who have made the leap to the U.S. market by opening up international headquarters in Austin, TX. In fact, since 2005, 41 companies have opened their U.S. headquarters in Austin and generated almost $38 million in revenue.
The expo welcomed Texas Secretary of State Esperanza “Hope” Andrade as the keynote speaker as well as Mr. Fernando Reyes, President of Reyes Industries, Inc. who spoke about the importance of Small Businesses in Texas and the importance of the relationship between the State of Texas and the Country of Mexico. Furthermore, they spoke about the importance of philanthropy and specifically mentioned the unique opportunity that CHANCE has to offer.
CHANCE, (Communities Helping America Now to Contribute to the Economy), a program, in partnership with ACCION Texas, offers small business loans to aspiring entrepreneurs at a low fixed interest rate and offers educational training to ensure the entrepreneurs success. MATT’s focus is to establish and maintain the CHANCE Fund via contributions from the Mexican-American business community. MATT took advantage of this opportunity at the expo to begin establishing relationships with up and coming Mexican-American businesses in Austin by, along with the speakers, noting the importance of philanthropy in the United States business community.
